How can a pupil imitate the master unless he or she has muscles that at least can do movements that resemble those of the master? I find nearly every pupil has a weak left arm and wrist : I say weak, meaning ill-trained - ignorant, if you like - and therefore I set out from the first lesson to get the left wrist stronger, to enable the player to hit against his left arm, side and wrist, when he has brought his body into position.
