An anthology of poems on a black muslim woman’s experience of surviving assault, guilt, and shame. Written for survivors and friends alike, this set of poems covers the range of emotions that assault survivors may experience. The intersectional author defines her experience in her own words hoping that a peek into her mind will give her family, friends, and community a greater understanding of the struggles of assault, abuse, and mental illness. With much trepidation she writes knowing that there truly is not a perfect way to talk about deep seated issues in her community.
