As a witch of the First Order, Annabelle’s time is precious. But when her cheating ex invites her to his Halloween party that he’s throwing with his new girlfriend—she refuses to let him think he’s won. Scrounging up a date shouldn’t be too hard with her powers, even if she has to resort to less-than-approved methods. Unfortunately for her, the runes required to summon a crossroads demon are trickier than she expected, which becomes all too obvious when she accidentally summons the infuriating half-demon son of her Supreme right to her kitchen table.

Bastien is cocky, confident, and a little crass, but what can you expect from the son of an incubus? He’s made it his mission in life to make Annabelle’s life as exasperating as possible, so finding out that she used forbidden runes to summon a date delights him to no end. He convinces her that he’s the perfect man (sort of) for the job, and with few other options—Annebelle reluctantly agrees.

The plan is to get in and get out, putting the entire night and her time with Bastien behind her soon after, but when Bastien’s flirting starts to feel a little too real, Annabelle questions everything she knows about the debonair half-demon. As the evening progresses and pretend kisses begin to lead to very real feelings, Annabelle must decide if Bastien’s antics are all just a trick—or if she’s in for a very sweet treat. View Less
