Westerly 66.1

Westerly 66.1 is a general issue, featuring our usual wonderful mix of fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction and scholarly essays. We are delighted to showcase a photographic feature by Peter Watson on Galiwin’ku, which signals gracefully, through word and image, bureaucratic attitudes towards this remote Yolngu community. We are also proud to include two features. ‘Longing: Three Ways’ offers hybrid prose poetry from Maddie Godfrey, our first Mid-Career Fellow in the inaugural year of the Fellowship, which is supported by the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund and the Katharine Susannah Prichard Writers’ Centre. ‘Imaginary Encounters’ showcases creative prose and poetry written by Curtin University staff and postgraduate students in response to the sculptural exhibition Everything Is True, by Abdul-Rahman Abdullah, curated by Chris Malcolm for the John Curtin Gallery and the Festival of Perth 2021.
